almost any calculation you need to make for patient care
decisions.
Framingham Risk: A quick calculator for 10-year CVD risk using the
Framingham study formula.
Pediatric:
Calculators for common pediatric problems, including renal and electrolyte
calculations, body surface area, and multiple drug and IV infusion rate
calculations.

AAFP
Patient Handouts: Link to the American Academy of Family Physicians site set
of over 1500 patient information handouts for most common and not so common
problems.
Mayo Clinic Patient Information Handouts: An A-Z quick access to the Mayo
Clinic’s list of patient education/ information handouts.
Anatomy
Online: A nice link to online anatomy with 10 different views from skeletal,
to GI, CV, etc. Handy especially for use in the exam room with patients to show
them anatomically what your are describing to them.

Medications
Pregnancy and Lactation: Safefetus.com is a site with detailed information
on most drugs for use in pregnancy and lactation. You can also use the Epocrates
link at the top of the page for similar information.
Pill
ID: The best site we can find for this issue, pharmer.org is still a bit
slow to use, but often can help you figure out what that foreign pill the
patient brings is actually contains.
OTC Drug Lookup: Easy access to what is in the OTC med your patient tells
you they are taking. What the devil is “Privine.” Check this site.
Target and
Wal-Mart $4. Drug Lists: The online current PDF of Target’s and Wal-Mart’s
medications available for $4. for a months supply. Can save you time guessing
what is on their lists. Quick and easy to use.
Costco Drug Costs: An online easy to use link to Costco’s pricing of
prescriptions, by 30, 50, and 100 pill prescriptions. Patients do not have to be
Costco members to use their pharmacies. Often a good option to 30-day supplies
for many generics, can save patients considerable money on copays. Example
simvastatin 40 mg #100 pills is $12.70 at Costco, vs. often a $5 or more monthly
copay using a patient’s insurance card at their local pharmacy.

Traveler’s Health:
Link to the CDC commonly used traveler’s health site. Find out what malaria meds
to use where, what immunizations are recommended for travel to specific areas,
etc.
Family Practice Notebook: A good reference for many
diverse healthcare problems. An easy way to get useful info
about a condition you may feel rusty.
Medline Plus: Extensive
reference information from the NIH and the National Library of Medicine.
eMedicine.com:
WebMD’s clinical references. Another source of clinical info for the provider.
Lab Tests Online:
Very useful site to look up about almost all lab tests. Referenced by lab test
and by medical condition.
Poison Management: University of Cambridge site detailing management of many
drug OD issues.
New PAP Guidelines: Link to the site for latest (2007) recommendations for
management of abnormal PAPs. Note new recommendations, especially for
adolescents.
WebMD: Patient focused site
for a wide variety of medical information.
Rheumatic Disease: The online equivalent of the Primer for Rheumatic
Diseases. This site has easy access to diagnostic criterion for most of the
Rheumatic diagnoses.
